Surah-e-Rehman

This surah has 78 verses and it is ‘makki’. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that reciting this surah on Friday after the dawn prayers carries great reward. Surah as-Rahman removes hypocrisy from one’s heart.

On the Day of Judgement, this surah will come in the shape of a human being who will be handsome and will have a very nice scent. Allah (s.w.t.) will then tell him to point out those people who used to recite this surah and he will name them. Then he will be allowed to beg pardon for those whom he names and Allah (s.w.t.) will pardon them.

The Imam (a.s.) also said that if a person dies after reciting this surah, then is considered a martyr. Writing this surah and keeping it makes all difficulties and problems vanish and also cures eye ailments. Writing it on the walls of a house keeps away all types of household pests. If recited at night, then Allah (s.w.t.) sends an angel to guard the reciter until he wakes up and if recited in the daytime then an angel guards him until sunset.

اس سورت کی 78 آیات ہیں اور یہ مکی ہے۔ امام جعفر الصادق علیہ السلام نے فرمایا ہے کہ جمعہ کے دن فجر کی نماز کے بعد اس سورہ کو پڑھنے کا بہت ثواب ہے۔ سورۃ الرحمٰن دل سے نفاق نکال دیتی ہے۔

قیامت کے دن یہ سورت ایک ایسے انسان کی شکل میں آئے گی جو خوبصورت ہو گا اور اس کی خوشبو بہت اچھی ہو گی۔ اللہ تبارک وتعالیٰ اس سے کہے گا کہ ان لوگوں کی نشاندہی کرو جو اس سورت کی تلاوت کرتے تھے اور وہ ان کے نام بتائے گا۔ پھر اسے ان لوگوں کے لیے معافی مانگنے کی اجازت دی جائے گی جن کا وہ نام لے گا اور اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں معاف کر دے گا۔

امام علیہ السلام نے یہ بھی فرمایا کہ اگر کوئی شخص اس سورہ کو پڑھنے کے بعد مر جائے تو وہ شہید شمار ہوتا ہے۔ اس سورہ کو لکھ کر رکھنے سے تمام مشکلات اور پریشانیاں دور ہوجاتی ہیں اور آنکھوں کی بیماریاں بھی ٹھیک ہوجاتی ہیں۔ اسے گھر کی دیواروں پر لکھنے سے ہر قسم کے گھریلو کیڑوں کو دور رکھا جاتا ہے۔ اگر رات کو تلاوت کی جائے تو اللہ تعالیٰ ایک فرشتہ بھیجتا ہے کہ وہ قاری کی حفاظت کرے یہاں تک کہ وہ بیدار ہو جائے اور اگر دن میں پڑھا جائے تو ایک فرشتہ غروب آفتاب تک اس کی حفاظت کرتا ہے۔
